“Be Spree – Feel Free”
Spree Water is a speculative branding project developed in the context of the association Flussbad Berlin.
Presented as a premium bottled water brand, the project appropriates the visual language of consumer marketing to highlight the polluted state of Berlin’s River Spree. Murky river water was collected, bottled, branded, and advertised as a desirable product. Beneath its polished appearance, however, the contents revealed an uncomfortable reality: cigarette butts replaced lemon slices, exposing the gap between image and substance.
Through irony and exaggeration, Spree Water transformed environmental pollution into a marketable commodity, provoking discussion about water quality, public space, and urban ecology.
