Kantbau 2026
Museum Building 2026
Position: Project manager for Sunder-Plassmann Architects
Location: Ostpreußisches Landesmuseum, Lüneburg
Client: Ostpreußische Kulturstiftung
The Kant Museum in Lüneburg is the first museum dedicated exclusively to the philosopher Immanuel Kant and the spatial translation of his ideas. Architecture and exhibition design were conceived simultaneously from the outset, resulting in a coherent overall concept in which building, scenography, and philosophical content mutually shape one another.
For Sunder-Plassmann Architekten, I led the project from design development (LP 3) through to completion. In addition to detailed and execution planning, my responsibilities included coordinating specialist consultants, clients, and contractors, as well as overseeing schedules and costs and leading and documenting planning and construction meetings.
A particular challenge for me was the integration of the modern cubic extension into the historic urban fabric of Lüneburg's old town. Driven by the conviction that sustainable materials can also unlock new aesthetic potentials, I strongly advocated for the use of recycled bricks in the façade. As a result, the bricks' distinctive patina lends the building a natural and harmonious presence within its historic surroundings.
