Grießer Spitz
term paper secondary school 2012 : redesign the public sphere of Grießer Spitz
The task given in the context of a seminar in school was to give a new appearance to the “Grieser Spitz” in Regensburg.
The town has a history of 2400 years and has been announced UNESCO world heritage in 2006.
My aim was to turn the former wharf into a venue for leisure and culture. Circular elements of different sizes arranged in different heights form of a bay, stage, and sculpture at the same time.
Constructions resembling fishing lines hold the “Bubble Chairs” (Designed by Eero Aarnio). Inside the chairs visitors can listen to audio books about the history of Regensburg or the river Danube, or simply listen to the sounds of the river (e.g. How does the Danube sound in Hungary?) in a relaxed atmosphere. Like this the town‘s history is brought to life.
The project won the second prize in a competion for senior classes of the town of Regensburg.
