The “Freie Klasse” is a newly founded educational format, hosted by the chair DE/CO of Professor Jan Kampshoff. It is an exchange platform for bachelor and master students with their own design topics.

In 2020/21, we had a very diverse mix of topics from 15 students. From theoretical projects, up to real construction, everything was included.

Missing the informal talks at the corridors of our uni during the digital semester, we started to meet at least once a week online for a sixty-minute panel discussion.

We used the meetings to talk about specific self-curated topics, exchanged experiences, and to talked about our future and visions as architects. We also invited external guests to give us inputs to our meetings.

Every round started with a short round of personal pictures of the week. The picture showed a new discovery, a mood, or the state of the own project.

In the end, we designed a little collective diary of the twenty weeks we shared,  containing all topics, personal pictures of the weeks and protocols of the panels.
