Shine on me
Exhibition concept and planning 2018
Position: Freelance Designer for Raumlabor Berlin
Location: Deutsches Hygiene Museum, Dresden
Client: Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien, Kulturstiftung des Freistates Sachsen
In 2018, as NASA’s Parker Solar Probe began its journey towards the Sun, the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresdenlaunched its own exploration of our nearest star through seven cultural and scientific perspectives.
The exhibition was structured into seven thematic orbits, examining the Sun as divinity, timekeeper, symbol, means of communication, source of health, energy, and star.
I was working as a freelance for the office Raumlabor Berlin on this project. In collaboration with curator Dr. Catherine Nichols, we developed a scenography for the seven chapters. Drawing inspiration from the aesthetics of 1960s space travel and the imagery of space debris, we created a family of flexible and interactive exhibition objects in various scales.
A special feature of the design was a series of dedicated research stations for children. Integrated into every chapter and scaled to younger visitors, they encouraged playful exploration and independent discovery.
