How far can community go without loosing a sense for private sphere?
This is what we asked ourselves at the beginning of our project "Living in the community".
We came to the agreement that although all rooms can serve as communal spheres, every individual resident should also have their own domain.
A ribbon looming on the outside of the building forms the communal spaces on the inside and encompasses the wooden cubes that contain the single rooms and bathrooms. The living cube is supposed to serve only as a private haven, while all shared activities, like cooking, eating, working, take place outside the cubes.
The access levels and the communal area are not separated by walls but are slightly shifted in heights. Like this the rooms appear larger and allow perpetual contact between the floors.
